The Tiverton Vale Vet Team

Trevor Heptinstall - Partner

Another Yorkshire man (they can't resist Devon!) with a huge wealth of experience in all aspects of practice life. Trevor adds great organisational skills to his veterinary ability making sure the practice is run with the precision required to provide a top rate service. His keen interest in all things avian especially the owls and raptors has been a boon to local wildlife.

Andrew Biggs - Partner

The son of a distinguished veterinary professor, Andrew is an internationally recognised academic in his own right despite being immersed in everyday general practice since joining as a new graduate in 1981. He now acts as an international consultant on Mastitis, Tuberculosis and cattle health in general. A fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine he has written and lectured extensively and produced his own textbook on "Mastitis in Cattle". On top of all these achievements he retains great respect of the skills and resilience of the family farmers who provide the base for his studies. That high regard leads him (and all of us in the team) to work long hard days on their behalf.
P.S. if you need a good game of squash, Andy is your man.

Jonathan Dainton - Partner

Jonathan has been part of the Vale Team since qualifying from The Royal Veterinary College a good few years ago becoming a partner in 1990. During this time he has built up a wealth of experience in both the farm and small animal side of the practice. Whilst he now spends the majority of time in the Small Animal Department he still maintains his interest in the farm side and enjoys getting back out onto the farms. He loves all aspects of surgery and in particular orthopaedics.

Carla Puime Costoya - Clinical Director

Carla brings a truly international flavour to the Vale, having trained at the University of Santiago de Compostela and subsequently worked in the USA and all over the UK. Her special interests are in internal medicine, ultrasonography and dermatology.

Kate Peake

Kate worked in mixed practice in Derbyshire before joining the Vale in 2005 to concentrate on cattle work. With six years experience, she is now studying for the Diploma in Bovine Reproduction and greatly enjoys all aspects of practice life.

Louise Turley

Leaving Yorkshire behind, Louise joined the Vale in 2006, having recently graduated from the Royal Veterinary College. Whilst happy and competent as a farm vet, her special interest lies in cardiology for which she continues to study towards a specialist qualification. This sees her increasingly involved in the small animal side of the practice.

Ashley Rubens

Our newest team member, Norfolk born, London trained with three years "hard labour" on Dartmoor behind him. Enjoying both small and large animal work but with a core interest in farm animal medicine especially beef and sheep.
